and our work in particular.

How do I become a referee... ?

In order to become a referee,  you must take an Entry Level Referee Course.  These courses take a total of 18 hours of class time (usually six 3 hour sessions).  At the end of the class there will be an exam that takes one hour.  As soon as all the paperwork is completed and your name is posted on the FSR and FYSA websites, you are eligible to referee games.   Once you have been registered, let us know and we can begin to assign you to games.  You register for the course on the fsr-inc.com  website.  Look under "courses."  The course costs $105 and includes the first year registration..

How am I assigned games ... ?

In order to be assigned games your name must show up on the Florida State Referees website and the Florida Youth Soccer Association website (for youth games).   Once you are registered,  assignors will contact you with offers of games.  Once you have developed a relationship with a local assignor, we will be able to help you develop your refereeing career by assigning you progressively more challenging games as your skill level increases.  We will help you through the process of upgrading your referee grade.

How do I get paid ... ?

Port Orange Soccer Club, Stetson Futbol Association and Deltona Youth Soccer pay cash on the field.  The coach or their representative will give you your money when you return their passes.  FSA and EOS pays by check every 2 weeks, mailed to your home address.  Other organizations have differing policies so check with me before your games if you have a question.

Who are we ... ?

Malcolm King: "I am one of you.  I am a grade 07 referee and have been refereeing for 12 years.  I am also a high school and collegiate referee.  I work numerous tournaments during the year and can provide help in getting into them.  I am available by phone from 9AM - 10 PM for questions and information.  I treat this as a profession and hope the referees I work with will do the same."
